How many knots do you really need to know -- and are they worth knowing??  Well, we suggest that you only need to use a few and each knot preserves 100% of the line’s rated strength.

1.      Line to hook, lure, swivel, etc.

·        Monofilament to 20 lbs.:  Palomar

·        Monofilament > 20 lbs:   Uni-knot

                                                                          i.      Five turns for 20 – 40 lb mono

                                                                        ii.      Four turns for 40 – 60 lb mono

                                                                      iii.      Three turns for mono > 60 lbs.

·        Braid:  Palomar

                                                                          i.      First, double the braid and then

                                                                        ii.      Tie as for mono

2.      Line to leader for both mono and braid

·        Double the running line with the state of the art 12 turn Bimini Twist

·        Connect the leader to the doubled line with the Bristol or No-Name knot

3.      Line to line

·        Double each line with the 12 turn Bimini Twist

·        Tie a 3 turn uniknot (two)
